Sofya Voronko
Artistic Director/Conductor

Sofya Voronko is the artistic director and conductor of the Ave Choir Toronto. Sofya has received her Bachelor’s in Voice Pedagogy (2015) and her Masters of Teaching (2020) degrees from the University of Toronto. Sofya is also the founder and the conductor of the La-La-Larks children’s choir. Previously, Sofya worked for the Young Voices Toronto children’s choir (2018-2021). Sofya is a composer, a song-writer and a singer/flutist of the local band “LostBerries”.
In rehearsals, Sofya relies on metaphors and associations to explain good vocal technique, her rehearsals are fast-paced and spirited. Ave Choir explores songs of all time periods, languages, and genres. Sofya’s love for world music and appreciation of folklore is reflected in the choir’s repertoire.
